I was recently asked how to create a spell jar and I thought this might be helpful to a lot of you as well.
Let me begin with saying keep it simple! Too many ingredients can confuse a spell and really you don't need to throw your entire kitchen into a spell. Make sure the ingredients you plan on using will blend well together and not fight each other, and make sure you have incorporated a protective ingredient as well. A good number to start with is 3-4. I will add here too that you should never take someone else's spell ingredients at face value. Always research all aspects of the ingredients, and maybe even sit with them and see how their energy feels to you.
To begin, gather the ingredients, just like if you were going to cook.
Next is going to be determined by how you personally cast spells/preform rituals; follow your intuition. Some call corners, some cast circles, some make elaborate areas and displays. Personally I connect with the earth, I feel roots extending from the soles of my feet, I feel the energy currents flowing around my legs and direct them to my hands. I know it's time when I feel a particular tingle (not my normal MS tingle). You'll know it when you feel it.
Then I tell each ingredient what it's job is and ask it to aid me; (This is the most important step) I transfer the energy from my hands into the ingredient as it goes into the jar(s). Once all ingredients are in then I seal the jar. If I'm selling it I simply seal it with glue so that the magical seal can be added by whomever is using it. If it's for me personally I usually use wax to seal it, I may add embellishments like stones/crystals or crystal dust or even glitter to the wax.
Some people like to say things like so mote it be, or let it be done that it harm none. Personally I like to remind the spell what it's purpose is, but you don't have to say anything if you don't feel drawn to.
After you are done you need to open the circle/release the corners, for me I thank the earth for the energy and slowly draw back the roots into the soles of my feet.
I hope that was helpful to some of you! Let me know do you do something different?
